Rainy Lake Community Orchestra

Summer Workshop scheduled for August 13-18, 2017

The workshop is free and all string musicians are welcome to attend. No registration is required - just come to the first rehearsal or let us know if you plan to attend.

The young orchestra (Rainy Lake Sinfonia -- mostly beginners) meets Sunday through Thursday from 4:00 - 5:00 pm at the Ranier Communty Building.

Advanced  musicians practice Monday - Thursday from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.

There will be a concert (free) on Friday at 7:00 pm also at the Ranier Community Building.

The advanced musicians assist the Sinfonia during rehearsals and the concert.

There will be opportunities for groups/ensembles to play additional music. Lessons can be scheduled with our visiting professionals - these are also free.

It's a fun week - we have a family picnic after rehearsal - either on Tuesday or Wednesday and a reception after the concert.

Literature that is worked on at Monday evening rehearsals is from medium through difficult range.  In other words, the music starts at a High School level of difficulty and proceeds through major works from major composers.  These latter works can be quite technical and difficult to master.

The group performs about once a month for functions at Backus Community Center, perform with the Borderland Community Orchestra in Emo, hold a string camp each year in August at the Ranier Community Building for beginning through advanced string players, perform at area churches and educational institutions, and are available for a fee for weddings and special events.  Booking contact is John Faith (218) 286-3281.
